It’s that time of year again. The robocalls, walk and knock marathons, and clusters of campaign signs remind us of the upcoming August 5th primary election in Clark County.

It can be a daunting task selecting candidates that align with your personal values. Candidates tend to tiptoe around topics, delivering elaborate non-responsive answers. For some, side-stepping quesitons is part of an effective campaign strategy, forcing voters to rely on campaign websites or voter’s pamphlets. It is rare to get a glimpse of candidate’s personality or character in the wild.

So, we decided to cut through the campaign clutter and focus on the unique personality of Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler. No political questions, we told her.

Herrera Beutler graciously answered our peculiar questions, like “If you were forced to sing karaoke, which song would you sing?” and “Which do you prefer, Mac or PC?” A highlight of our interview with Jaime is above, and the full interview can be found here.

Congresswoman Herrera Beutler is currently running for a third term in Congress this November. Bob Dingethal (D) and Michael Delavar (R) are also campaigning to represent Southwest Washington’s 3rd district.
