Law enforcement agencies have announced they will beef up DUI patrols in Clark County through Mar. 18, including on county roads, state routes and city streets.

More DUI patrols will be on the road through Mar. 18.

During 2011, 45 drivers were arrested in Clark County on suspicion of driving under the influence. The year before, 73 were arrested.

Officers from the Vancouver, Battle Ground, Camas, and Ridgefield police departments will be scanning local roads. Also committing extra patrol hours are the Clark County Sheriff’s Office and the Washington State Patrol.

The push is part of Washington’ss Strategic Highway Safety Plan to reduce traffic fatalities to zero by the year 2030. Funding for the enforcement activity is provided by Washington Traffic Safety Commission.
