Clark County votes on Tuesday.

Clark County voters will be asked to cast their ballots Tuesday on upwards of $1 billion in property tax levies earmarked for five school districts – one of which had more than $800,000 embezzled over a 10-year period.

Measures on the table range from $47 million in Ridgefield to $400,000 for five years in Green Mountain.


Evergreen School District

In 2010 Evergreen passed a two-year, $41.5 million levy that will expire on Dec. 31. Evergreen wants a new four-year levy to start Jan. 1, 2013.

$4.19 to $4.54

45.2 percent of students get free or reduced-price meals
14 percent enrolled in special education.

Ridgefield School District

The district wants to issue $46.7 million in general obligation bonds to fund new classrooms, athletic facilities, safety measures, and other school improvements. Ridgefield’s last successful facility improvement bond was in 1991.

Yearly revenue per student: $8,601

Side note: In 2009 Ridgefield discovered that at least $806,644 had been embezzled over a 10-year period by a payroll employee, and the case was turned over to the FBI and U.S. Attorney’s office. The Washington State Auditor’s Office recommended the district strengthen internal controls.


Hockinson School District

Hockinson wants a four-year, $3.3 million levy to finance school programs and operations, and a second $511,000 levy to buy and install educational technology, provide security and fund facility improvements.
1st levy – Rate per $1,000 of assessed value: 58 cents to 59 cents
2nd levy – Rate per $1,000 of assessed value: $3.82 to $3.90

10.9 percent enrolled in special education

Yearly revenue per student: $8,541


Woodland School District

Woodland wants a two-year levy worth $3.2 million in 2013 and $3.4 million in 2014.
Rate per $1,000 of assessed value: $2.45 to $2.46

51.2 percent of students receive free or reduced-price meals
8.5 percent enrolled in special education

Yearly revenue per student: $10,001


Green Mountain School District

The district has one K-8 school and is asking for $400,000 yearly from 2013 through 2017.
Rate per $1,000 of assessed value: $3.70
