<itunes:summary>MarriageTeam is a Vancouver-based nonprofit that offers couples coaching before or after the ceremony. Their goal is to "strengthen and save marriages with well trained marriage coach couples," says founder Al Ray.

Ray and his wife, Autumn, travel to Oregon, Western Washington, California and parts of Nebraska teaching workshops to help others improve their relationships. Part of their work is training other couples to become MarriageTeam coaches.

While the majority of coaching is done "couple-to-couple in private homes," technology options such as Skype, for long distance coaching, "has proven to be just as effective as in-person coaching," says Al Ray.

Listen to a real couple in a real coaching session with MarriageTeam. Audio has been edited for time.

Situation: Kayla and Ashton are a married couple whose “sarcastic and joking conversations” seem more like arguments to their friends. Is this just friendly banter, or is there a deeper issue to deal with? Marriage coaches Al and Autumn Ray of MarriageTeam work with this couple in this episode.

MarriageTeam: Challenges face marriages like never before with 50 percent of adults under age 30 projected to have at least one divorce in their lifetime. MarriageTeam trains volunteer couples and pairs them with couples needing help.

MarriageTeam curriculum addresses communications, anger, bitterness, forgiveness, conflict resolution, problem solving, appreciating differences, intimacy, and goal setting.
